Effective milling is an art, done by feel

Over 40+ years of experience and with the level of knowledge built, we are proud to share knowledge on the safe operation of windmills and watermills to mill owners, voluntary groups and trusts. We believe that it is important to pass on our knowledge and skills as millers.

This will normally equate to a 1 day course in a small group where we cover the following topics:

  • Mill safety
  • How to stop the mill
  • How to start the mill
  • General maintenance tasks
  • How to freewheel the mill
  • How to set up the mill
  • How to grind

This can then lead to further training sessions focusing on using the mill in a commercial capacity if required. This further training course utilises extensive knowledge of commercial milling to ensure best practices are used which leads to effective commercial milling.

Additionally, following IOSH training, we can provide a full health and safety audit to outline any training requirements.

Recently, we have worked with:

Holgate Windmill Trust, York
Burgh le Marsh Heritage Group
Volunteers from Wrawby Postmill
Commercial training at Warwick Bridge Corn Mill on behalf of Cultura Trust
